On October 1st, Dr Chryssidis had the pleasure of being interviewed by Mr Peter Salerno on Radio Italia UNO. Peter had to translate into Italian for the benefit of some of the older listeners who do not understand English very well.
She spoke about the importance of good oral hygiene and the tie in between dental health and general health. She mentioned that half of Australians do not brush their teeth enough. This opens the door to a huge bacterial invasion, leading to tooth decay and gum disease.
She introduced listeners to the bad bacteria in the mouth, especially Streptococcus mutans, who then encourage other bad bugs to hang around and cause gum disease. These “Strep” bugs and their buddies can enter your bloodstream where they can affect your organs too.
The clear message was: Brush. Your. Teeth.
